The simulation contains 60 questions in 90 minutes, with four answer choices and no hints before submission. The August sitting was a trial test for which UHR says participants were given generous time. The trial is used to check that the questions have an appropriate difficulty and measure the intended knowledge. The number of questions and test time for the next sitting have not yet been published.

What is the citizenship test?
A knowledge test about Swedish society connected to applications for Swedish citizenship. The test is in Swedish and covers the topics in Sverige i fokus. The first sitting was held at Stockholmsmässan on 15 August 2026, with nearly 1,000 participants. It was a trial sitting used to evaluate the test. UHR states that the result will be published in October; the exact date and the next test date and format have not yet been announced. Why was the August sitting a trial test?
UHR used the sitting to see how the questions work in a real test, select a suitable combination and assess whether the difficulty and knowledge measurement are appropriate. That is why all participants were given generous time. Source: UHR on the trial sitting
Do participants receive a result from the trial sitting?
Yes. The result appears in the participant’s UHR account and is reported automatically to the Swedish Migration Agency. Because the pass threshold is set after the trial analysis, the result will be published in October. Someone who fails may be given another opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and should ask the Swedish Migration Agency what applies to their case. Source: UHR on results and failed tests
